Schiller’s Mission of Moses

What were the geopolitical and cultural realities shaping the world Moses was born into and upon which he intervened? How did his experience growing up in the royal halls of Egypt with access to the highest cultural education then available during the 12th century BC also shape his mind and heart as he struggled over the challenge of how he might empower and uplift his fellow people locked as they were for centuries within a degraded system of slavery?

This treatment of the topic of Moses the man and his strategic thinking, creative insight and courage were first delivered to students at Jena University in 1789 by Universal History professor Friedrich Schiller, and published in his journal Thalia soon thereafter.
